Over the last four months we have worldwide devastation. With earthquakes and volcano activity on an all-time high. You have to ask yourselves when will be enough? How many people died do to building code practices? All the square building of most ancient times are no longer here, yet the pyramids, and circular towers, and lighthouses are still here! The waves come and smack the beach and the square structure are ripped out to sea but the rock on the beach and the lighthouse remain. A E-5 tornado destroys an entire community but the rock in the field and the round water tower remain! So why do the codes demand that the lighthouse and the water tower be able to flow with nature but not your homes? When did your homes STOP being your shelters? PLEASE THINK! ASK QUESTIONS! MAKE CHANGE! And Build to LIVE! How can we have hopes for sustainability if we only build to resist what is nature! PLEASE GIVE THIS PLIGHT A VOICE FOR IT IS YOUR VOICE TOO!

I know that this blog may seem repetitive at times, yet how else can one truly bring change but by educating as many as you can by repeating over and over again what change is needed! In this light;

Ice storm may fallow so please plane for the cold.

When it comes to the east coast states and the devastation there in, ask yourself, If building codes passed the test in these areas and was THEIR HOME also their shelter? Did no one die as a result of their home or structure? Was the infrastructure of their cities design to flow with nature so that it could endure natures natural flow? Did the so called Building Green buildings far well? Will their insurance cost stay the same? And finally, will the strain on our nature resources be unaffected?

If you answer, “NO” to any of the questions, then please read this blog thoroughly (that includes old post). For it is the belief of this author, that if these cities were built to flow with nature we would not see the devastation we see today. Sadly they are not! The foundation, walls, doors, windows, and roof are all built with a RESISTANCE RATING! And it is this RESISTANCE that creates so much devastation. Theory been, Natural disasters are natural, so one must build to FLOW with nature as to be a part of it and not against nature flow through resisting it! If one looks up this word “RESIST”, they will find that it means WAR or CONFLICT! Can we truly feel safe in our world when they would have us live and work in structures that are no longer our shelter and our infrastructures are designed and built to be at war with nature and her natural flow? I dare say not!

In conclusion, I send my prays to ALL whom were affected by this great storm, and it is my hope to bring building code change so that this will never happen again. 
The "Natural Disaster Environmental History Code" can save life, land, and liberty, and also reducing cost on insurance, natural resources, Local and Federal Government.

"ONE PLANET - ONE WORLD!"

We are NOT BUILDING to FLOW with NATURE! So nature still FLOWS against us! We refuse to get along with OUR MOTHER earth just like every little brat out there! We just TAKE TAKE TAKE and never a THANK YOU! And until we learn to flow with our MOTHER earth, SHE will KEEP spanking US! So please, I hear what MOM is saying, and you must too! Us Children need to "shape up or (WE Will BE) shipped out" WE MUST LIVE TO FLOW WITH OUR NATURAL ENVIRONMENTAL known as MOTHER earth! So that we can all live in HARMONY with OUR MOTHER earth and our FATHER above and thereby each-other! I can HELP YOU hear what MOTHER earth is saying. And to "BUILD TO FLOW WITH NATURE and NOT TO RESIST IT" should be our way of life! Even better, we could Build, Live, Work and Love only to flow with OUR WORLD and EACH OTHER. Think how BLESSED WE WOULD ALL BE! I AM SO SURE OF WHAT I SAY HERE AND ON ALL MY BLOGS from top to bottom I AM WILLING TO DIE FOR IT! Even if it takes ALL MY LIFE, I will not heed for any but OUR Mother earth and OUR FATHER above! MY FELLOW CHILDREN, "I LOVE YOU" please HEAR our MOTHERS CRIES, and OUR FATHERS WARNINGS! STOP FIGHTING OVER WHO IS LOVED THE MOST! FOR WE ARE ALL THEIR CHILDREN!

I was convinced over 40 year’s a go when I took this assignment in life. It was not known to me then that this was where I would be now. Yet, one must ask, “Why a little girl would be learning Pastoral Construction at age 7 through 17 years of age? Then, not truly knowing how to read or write at 17 years old and on her own, started working residential and commercial construction. Where at 18 years old she was a relief foreman and by 19 years of age, became a foreman of exterior stonewall masonry and general contracting. Later at 23 years old was a Rod Buster foreman. Then at age 37 years old, with really no prior education, Walked away with a 3.2 GPA in Architectural Engineering.” NONE of this sounds the norm! And then ON TOP OF THIS, to have been in all the lower 48 before she was 17 years old is remarkable. So what I am trying to say is, “THIS IS A LIFE’S MISSION” and “IT IS OUT OF MY HANDS” I am only HERE doing what I feel is EXPECTED OF ME! “Ours is not the reason why, just to DO or DIE!”

So PLEASE! Look past the grammar and spelling errors and TAKE the TRUTH of IT all in! WE MUST LEARN TO “BUILD TO FLOW WITH NATURE AND NOT TO RESIST IT!” Read all that this BLOG has to offer! How do you think a underground shelter will fair here?
2/3 of our planet is water and the icecaps are melting,
we must think different by looking to nature for true design. 

Here we see the truth of underground shelters. I stress to you all to LOOK hard at the world around you. You cannot call it a shelter if it does not truly shelter you from nature’s natural flow, whether it is sun, rain, snow, tornado, flood, hurricane, earthquake, tsunami, etc. 

Just think of it this way, NATURE disasters are a NATURAL occurrence in our world, so how come it is called a disaster? Would it be because everything built in our world is built to RESIST NATURE? To resist nature is to be at war with nature. We must instead learn to build to flow with nature and not to resist it.

Now I would like to put forth a challenge to the academic community on testing the theories presented within this Blog. Please try to prove me wrong! I say Building code change is the key to true green building design and the sustainability we so desperately need.  This new building code is the Natural Disaster Environmental History Code (N.D.E.H. Code).  Read up, ponder, study, learn, change is needed.

Scientists: Global Warming ‘Very Likely’ Caused Recent Extreme Weather Disasters: Extreme weather events over the past decade have increased and were “very likely” caused by man-made global warming, a study in the journal Nature Climate Change said on Sunday. “Scientists at Germany’s Potsdam Institute for Climate Research used physics, statistical analysis and computer simulations to link extreme rainfall and heat waves to global warming,”

How do you build differently?

If when designing said structure one could look to nature for inspiration. Eggs of all kinds and larva are good examples. Shells of any types are another one worth considering. Then make sure there is no outer-parts of the building that your fingers can catch on, for if your fingers can, so can wind and water. Furthermore, a two part foundation known as a saddleback foundation system (coined by me) can be installed. This is where when digging the hole for the foundation you place culvert pipe in the base of the hole, laying the pipe under the foundation for drainage. This pipe leads the water away from the structure to an underground manmade reservoir (Dome over stone, sand with screen and then an upside-down dome to catch water at base). In doing this, floodwaters will no longer be the threat they are today.Then a pour in-place foundation is to be set, than a prefab basement unit in to place and home will be attached to. Telescopic piping could also be implemented at the proper structural points of the poured foundation (saddle) and attached to the prefab basement that is cradled there in. Reasoning is, when floodwater rises, the structure will be secure horizontally and yet able to rise vertically safely. When floodwaters reach their max, pins can be put in to place in the piping to secure the structure so that the sub-foundation (saddle) can be cleaned and the structure lowered back in to place. In flashflood / drought zones, this would be an asset to the community that has no water during the summer months.

Why build shelters when it’s your homes job?

What one thinks it should be and what it is, is two different things. Here we are now, just as in pass, looking at our country and other countries crumbling from the inside outward! The infrastructures were never designed to endure for any real deration. Engineers and architects have been in a rut for centuries. In addition the leaders of our societies have never built their communities to co-existence with its environment. Did Byzantine, Romanesque, Gothic or Renaissance architecture save the societies that created them? I dare say not. Their designs were faulty then and they are faulty now. And as it is today, their infrastructure came into ruin at the same time their economy faltered, leading ultimately to the fall of these societies. It also seems that a lot of the technology that was known to each is lost to the world for sometimes and then reemerges only to come to ruin again and again. Don’t you feel that this vicious cycle needs to stop!

It is time to rethink the world we construct around ourselves! To learn to “build to flow with nature and not to resist it” so we can co-exist with nature this time around. As it is, every building constructed today is built to resist nature.  What advantage has arisen from building to RESIST NATURE? Just war and conflict with nature has come of this and at the expense of everyone and everything.

Now think of structures that collect and stores power and water harnessed naturally from the environment around it. Or even that when a storm is headed directly at your community, storm warnings were a thing of the past. Instead a storm was looked upon as an asset to the community, for it would bring life and not death, through the harnessing of the nature energy stored in a storm as well as water that may come with it. Homes and business would withstand nature’s fury better by allowing a natural disaster to flow around, under or through the structure and or community. The outcome of building to resistance against natural disasters coupled with the ill use of our natural resources to build said structures and communities has always been the same for 1000s of years. It has always led to collapsing of economies, the destruction of the community, diseases & contamination to the environment and the people, and then ultimately the death of these civilizations.

We can no longer ignore the truth of the matter when considering a square building to a round or curved building and their survival rating before, during and after a nature disaster. Or the heavy toll nature and human alike must pay for these failures. We have seen many advances everywhere else in our world. Yet they still allow square trailer homes to be built in tornado alley! Please raze your voice and be heard in your community and educate other on how they can “Build to flow with nature and not to resist it” by taking into account the “Natural disaster environmental history or your region”!

Underground shelters won’t cut it.

The Natural Disaster Environmental History Code (N.D.E.H.C.) would state;

General. This code is to apply to all Structural Engineering Design Provisions and all materials there in. As well as the exterior materials, window, doors, et cetera.

Definition. Natural disasters are natural, they have been happening for millions of years. When designing, the natural disaster history of the region for where the structure is to be built is relative and must be taken in to account before a new structure is built. Meaning, any new structure regardless of use is to meet this code.

Reasoning. Nature cannot flow around a flat surface. A square is not wind, water, fire, or earth dynamic. A square structure impends the flow of nature and therefore will succumb to its fury. Where as spheres, cylinders, pyramids, eggs, cones, shells, and teardrop structures in nature and in modern society, allows nature and its fury to flow around, over, under or though, with no real resists.

Design. With natural disasters such as, flash floods, mud slides, wildfires, tornadoes, tsunamis, earthquakes and volcanoes bearing down on us we need to build to flow with nature like other living species on this earth have learned to do. Thereby, the structure is design to flow with nature not to resist it. Wind, water, mud, fire must be able to flow under, over and around the structure without hindering its flow. Cities and towns must be designed to allow water, wind, fire and magma to flow under, over or around it. None shall impend the natural flow of nature.

Concept. Build to flow with nature not to resist it, for to resist nature is to oppose nature. Moreover, to oppose nature is to be in conflict with nature. To be in conflict with nature is same as to be at war with nature. A building or any other structure should be designed to flow with nature not to resist nature, if not all you have is a war shelter for nature never sleeps and thereby is always at war.

War is not an option when the human race and all life on earth is concerned. We have all the technology to go to the moon, send probes deep in to space, build guided missiles, and un-manned drowns to kill but we can’t even mandate new codes for tornado alley? Why is it that a leader can mandate some things but others are forever lost in the bureaucratic red tape? If it was mandated that all new construction of any type of structure comply with the Natural Disaster Environmental History Code (N.D.E.H.C.), the obliteration of communities, it’s people and the environment that encompasses it, would become but a trickle, compared to the floodgates opened wide right now and for the last 30 odd years! The International Building Codes (IBC), by passing this new code restriction, would find even a larger roll in the “Sustainability / Build Green” movement in our world and at the same time save lives.

If I could do anything to help our world, it would be to bring this building code change. Yes, I would love to use this site to promote building design ideas but that is not why I started this site! It is and always will be to save live, land, and our natural resources through building code improvement. The only way that change can be accomplished is to distinguish the natural disaster environmental history for the region one is to build. This information is readily available to any who seek it right on the net. The world and it’s inhabitance can not afford to wait.

HOW TO LIVE IN A SHELTER OR NOT, LIVE FOR TOMMAROW
